Stourbridge Film Festival
14th - 25th May 2003

In aid of The Mary Stevens Hospice
Charity Registration No 517656

Stourbridge Film Festival

Obviously now it's all over but we will leave the details on for a few weeks. Despite one or two problems the SFF has been hailed a great success and we all look forward to next year's event being even better. Watch this space for details of the Awards Evening.

The First Stourbridge Film Festival will take place during the same period as the Cannes Film Festival, France, between 14th – 25th May 2003. Obviously ours will be much better as we shall be using local venues for quality entertainment that will attract visitors from across the Midlands region and beyond. The Festival will also provide filmmakers from the region with an opportunity to display their arts and craft but, best of all the Festival will raise money for the Mary Stevens Hospice charity to help provide care, comfort and support to people who are at their most vulnerable. We shall be presenting 16 pre-released films during the Festival’s 12- days, that will suite all tastes and using venues such as The Bonded Warehouse, Stourbridge College and many other unusual locations. We shall be presenting films such as Sing-a-long-a-Sound of Music at the Town Hall; the original motion pictures of Raiders of the Lost Ark and Grease at a Drive-in cinema for 500 cars set in the grounds of Himley Hall, and a gastronomic evening including the motion picture “Casablanca” at the French Connection. Films will be shown during the late afternoon and evening on most Festival dates to accommodate all age groups.

Throughout the Festival we shall also be showing and judging films that have been submitted by our local budding filmmakers (more info). Competition winners will receive their accolades at a Gala Presentation Evening to be held at Stourbridge Town Hall on Sunday 25th May. This is where the category winners will receive their ‘Chrissy’ a Stourbridge Film Festival crystal trophy.
