STOURBRIDGE FILM FESTIVAL 2003 COMPETITION RULES & REGULATIONS

Rule 1
The aim of the festival is to raise awareness and reward filmmakers and the participants of quality motion picture work to progress the filmmaking industry
and
Promote Stourbridge as a location for films and film craft

Rule 2
The First Stourbridge Film Festival will be held from Wednesday 14th to Sunday 25th May 2003

Rule 3
In the event of disagreement the Festival’s Steering Group decision will be final

Rule 4
Only films that meet the rules and criteria for the Festival will be accepted for competition unless judges agree to a special waver

Competition is open to filmmakers that live, study or work within the East and West Midlands Regions

Films must have been made during the eighteen months preceding the Festival’s start date

Films must be submitted on VHS or DVD U.K. format only

Short film running time must not exceed maximum 20 minutes duration

Feature film running time must not exceed minimum of 30 minutes to a maximum of 120 minutes duration

Rule 5
Films for competition will only be accepted with completed official entry form

All entry form’s, fee’s and film formats’ must be received at the offices of Stourbridge Film Festival 2003, by Friday 28h March 2003

Film showing time for judging will be displayed on this website www.stourbridge.co.uk from Monday 14th April 2003. Times may be subject to change

Film’s entered for competition may not be with draw from the programme and must not be shown at any other venue during the Festival period

Rule 6
Films in any language other than English must be presented with English subtitles

Rule 7
Feature Films competition categories are as follows:
Crystal Award for Best Feature Film
Crystal Award for Best Performance of an Actress
Crystal Award for Best Performance of an Actor
Crystal Award for Best Director
Crystal Award for Best screenplay

Rule 8
Short Film competition categories are as follows:
Crystal Award for Best Short Film
Crystal Award for Best Short Film Director

Rule 9
The Festival Steering Group will designate members of the Jury and its President to judge competition entries

The Jury is composed of its President and six Jury members

Each Jury member votes by secret ballot and decisions will be reached by majority vote. The President’s vote will only be incorporated if no Jury vote declares an outright winner

The President and Jury may not declare a category award winner if the entries are deemed not of suitable quality

Rule 10
All nominees short-listed for a category award must attend the Gala Presentation Awards evening at Stourbridge Town Hall on Sunday 25th May 2003. Award nominees will be notified by Friday 23rd May 2003
