Stourbridge in the 60's and 80's archive video footage

Stourbridge.com has been incredibly fortunate in acquiring a video, produced by Stourbridge Council back in the 1960's, promoting the virtues of the ring road! Called "Order out of Chaos", it was intended to show what a vast improvement the ring road was in reducing traffic chaos in the town centre, even back then, and as we all know the ring road is a subject of fierce debate to this day. But the video is far more important than that, it is also a fascinating insight into life in Stourbridge in the 1960's. It's fun trying to recognise the various parts of the town, some are almost unchanged where others have out of all recognition.

We decided to split the footage up into manageable pieces and used Youtube as the delivery mechanism. In time we may organise the video clips in a map of the town centre, so you know exactly where the film was taken from. Over the next few weeks we intend posting lots more clips so keep looking!
